Caribbean Stud Poker is one way for casual players to get in on the poker action without having to worry about staring down a high stakes player at the casino. If you know the basic poker hands, you’re ready to start playing Caribbean Poker.
The beauty of Caribbean stud poker is that each player plays against the house rather than against others at the table. This means that you don’t have to worry about whether your hand can beat the other players. You just have to do better than the dealer. There is even a progressive jackpot that you can win simply by being dealt a flush or higher.
To play the Caribbean Poker, you will first place your ante on the table and decide if you want to play for the progressive jackpot. Keep in mind that your bet or raise will be double the ante. Once all antes are on the table, the dealer deals five cards to each player and to himself. The dealer turns over one of his cards and allows the players to look at their cards. Each player then decides whether to fold and forfeit their ante or bet. Once all players have folded or placed their bets, the dealer turns over his cards and compares his hands to the players. Any player who beats the dealer’s qualifying hand wins.
But before you can win a hand at Caribbean Stud Poker, the dealer must hold a qualifying hand of Ace/King or better. If the dealer doesn’t at least have an Ace/King hand, players receive even money only on their ante bet. This can be a bit disappointing for the player holding a royal flush when the dealer has nothing. The progressive jackpot helps offset that disappointment because by placing a dollar bet on the progressive, a player with a flush or higher will win money regardless of the dealer’s hand.
You don’t have to be a poker expert to play and enjoy the Caribbean Stud Poker, but keep in mind that the odds are in favor of the house. Manage your bankroll accordingly.
